Technical Director

What does the Technical Director do? 

The Technical Director works with the artists to determine the daily challenges they face. The TD then works towards streamlining the software and tools an artist uses to help them work more efficiently. Programing and writing code is a big part of what a TD’s daily routine looks like. The TD then writes code and creates tools to make the artist’s job easier.  

What kind of person could be a good Technical Director? 

  • Someone who is a good listener 
  • Someone who is empathetic and wants to help others 
  • Someone with good coding skills 
  • Someone with a thorough understanding of animation tools and techniques 

How do I become a Technical Director? 

A combined training in both coding and animation are essential for a technical director role.
